Squaw Valley

Yesterday we had our first opportunity to go swimming at 8200 feet, up at the High Camp at Squaw Valley.

Squaw is on the road between Truckee and Tahoe City and once you are up high, you have a view over the mountains down into the lake.

It was a little chilly up there for swimming, but the kids absolutely loved the spa, which was quite crowded.

We rode this cable car from the valley up to the High Camp. It takes about 8 minutes to go up 2000 vertical feet in elevation. The car is fairly large - probably 30 or so people can fit in it.

It was spectacular. There were wildflowers up there...

and fantastic views of the mountains and the lake.

We had a great time!
